What Are Blended Classes

Blended Class certifications are IDENTICAL to traditional classroom certifications. They cover the exact same material, show the same videos and cover the same lecture points.  Both include a mandatory hands on skill session.  The certification card issued for blended classes is the exact same card issued for traditional classes. There is nothing to differentiate them, because they are considered equivalent training by OSHA.  Blended Classes are NOT considered online CPR classes.   Blended classes simply allow you to complete the videos, lecture and quizzes online, at your own pace, prior to attending a hands on skills session with a certified instructor.  (Online CPR classes do not have a hands on component, meaning you never practice the skills or test off on them with an instructor.  Online classes are not approved by any certifying agency and some states have even enacted laws against them.)

We are only offering blended classes now during our weekly public class sessions.

Blended classes combine online videos, lecture, games and quizzes and once that is completed a hands on skills practice and then evaluation session with an instructor.  When you choose a blended class date you are actually choosing the date of the hands on skills session.  The online portion MUST be completed 2 hours prior to the scheduled skills session.  This allows the instructor to have the skills rosters correct and ready to go at class time.  NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN SKILLS UNLESS THE ONLINE PORTION IS COMPLETE.  This is ASHI’s rule, not just ours.

Blended classes have MULTIPLE sections that must be completed.  The front screen will only show SOME of the sections.  You will need to make sure you scroll down the screen and complete all of the portions.  You WILL receive a completion notice on the last page when you are done.  If you have not gotten this, then you have NOT completed all of the sections.  We are notified via email when you have completed it, so we will know who is done and who is not.  You will NOT be allowed to attend the skills session if you have not completed the online portion.  All Blended classes will give you an option to print a certificate of completion of the online portion when you are done with the class.  This is NOT proof of certification, it is just proof of completion of the online portion.  Certification is only issued once the skills session is successfully completed.
